More about Shaw mobile
Shaw mobile's history
Despite only being officially introduced on July 30th 2020, Shaw Mobile has an impressively long history. Shaw Communications was established in 1966, and grew exponentially by buying out several smaller companies. The company eventually grew large enough to begin offering its services to some communities in the United States. In 2008, Shaw won an AWS spectrum auction for the right to provide a wireless network in several provinces. However, they failed to set up a wireless network and ended up selling the right to Rogers in 2013. Although they recently introduced Shaw and Freedom Mobile, the brand's future remains uncertain. In March of 2021, Rogers announced their plan to acquire Shaw for $26 billion. The announcement was met with significant backlash. Because Shaw is one of Canada's largest providers, removing them from the picture would greatly reduce national competition among telecom companies
Shaw Mobile's nationwide coverage
Although Shaw mobile services are only available to customers in Alberta and British Columbia, their mobile networks cover the entire country. Shaw users can access their 4G LTE network nationwide. Additionally, the company recently announced that they will begin installing 5G towers shortly. Want to find out whether or not Shaw's mobile networks are accesible to you?
