Shaw Internet: Adored Nationwide

Been a customer for a few years. At the end of my contract found a better deal elsewhere but an agent from Shaw called me back with a better monthly offer and a 1 time statement credit of $200. The statement credit never materialized and when I enquired about the credit Shaw agents said there was no note on my account in that regard. I tried to cancel the new contract I was told it was outside the probation period and I would have to pay a hefty cancellation fee. Beware of offers from Shaw unless you get it in writing

Just cancelled our new Shaw internet service over poor wifi performance of their Bluecurve router and lack of customer support.
The Wifi range of the Bluecurve router is poor on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands, and side by side comparison with an existing 5+ year old Telus setup showed that Shaw's Bluecurve has at least 20% less range on any band. Shaw tech support was good to work with but unable to improve the performance and proposed a range extender to the customer support rep. Customer support was no help and tried to upsell rental of aditional range extenders.
Shaw internet with the Bluecurve is likely OK if used in a small apartment otherwise plan to pair it with a dedicated wifi router or range extenders.

I find that the internet is constantly dropping. We've had the problem repeatedly over the years and they never really fix it, just tell us it could be someone's garage door opener nearby or a microwave oven. Not helpful. And quite expensive really considering the service. I am sure I can get unreliable internet for less
